Key points about Exo Iris:

  • Handheld design: Fits in your pocket and is meant to be used anywhere.
  • AI integration: Built-in artificial intelligence helps interpret ultrasound images and provide real-time analysis.
  • Easy to use: Designed for intuitive operation, even for clinicians with limited ultrasound experience.
  • Multiple applications: Can be used for various examinations, including cardiac, lung, bladder, and needle guidance.
  • Imaging quality: Uses proprietary silicon technology to deliver high-quality ultrasound images.
  • Mobile app compatibility: Integrates with a mobile app for image viewing, data storage, and sharing.

Exo’s AI applications learn from more than 100,000 images. These images come from point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) exams done by users in real-life situations. Researchers also validated the AI across various patient populations, health conditions, and diagnostic scan types during clearance. According to the company, it recognizes internal landmarks on even less-than-perfect scans.

The lung AI can reliably find B-lines, which helps determine whether a patient has pulmonary edema or fluid in the lungs.

The cardiac AI can measure the left ventricle ejection fraction and stroke volume in just a few heartbeats. It works in both the parasternal long axis and apical four-chamber views.

Iris now has new features, including pulsed wave Doppler capabilities, which help measure blood velocity. These tools provide deeper insights for cardiac, abdominal, and vascular uses.
